Lilian Smits

“Dealing with the unpredictability, fickleness, surprises and deeper layers of my fellow human being is what I find most fascinating in my work and in my life”.

Lilian Smits is a senior practitioner (executive) coach for individuals and teams. She works from the ideas of positive psychology: the coaching process is focused on the movement forward. She is trained in the disciplines of Life Coaching, Systemic and Inclusive Coaching, where the coaching focuses on the whole of cognition, affection, spirituality, the physical and social context.

Lilian provides a safe and stimulating environment for growth and development. She guides in reflection, introspection/soul searching in a fascinating and inspiring way. The goal is to get moving, to be able to take a step forward in personal and/or professional development. With loving attention, “learning” is stimulated: about oneself, oneself in relation to the other, in relation to the social or professional system and the interplay of heart and head.

In her professional life, she has paid attention to “the human factor” in her work from different perspectives: as a creator of intercultural education programs, interim/change manager, HR manager, outsourcing manager or supervisor in retraining to a new career. This attention to people increasingly became her main focus. In positions such as scientific researcher, HR Director, Outsourcing Consultant or lecturer, she has gained a lot of experience and mastered a wide range of skills. All this makes it not difficult to connect with her clients; whether they are individuals or teams.

From her coaching practice, she works with people who are stuck in their lives in any way, with teams in change and with organizations that need expert and professional input in “the guidance of people” in their programs.

For example, she created the guidance system for the successful IT retraining program Make IT Work. In this program she has guided people for more than 9 years who wanted to take a, often surprising, new step in their career. For example, from archaeologist to Software Developer. This program mainly includes people between the ages of 40 and 50, but also people who are 55 years or older. She has discovered that supporting this fascinating target group in finding talents, skills and intrinsic motivation gives her great satisfaction and that she is also good at it!
